What Got Me Through This Week…

This week blew. There’s no beating around the bush. It just sucked, royally. But it’s now Thursday, which means it’s almost Friday. Which means I’m one day away from my favorite time – Jen Time. Jen Time is all about me…. The time that I become completely selfish and don’t feel guilty about it for a second.

There were a few exciting and uplifting moments, news announcements and random shit I found online that got me through this week. If anyone else is having a shitty week, hopefully this will help you also.

1. Adam Levine and His Girlfriend Broke Up!

Usually I would never pray for a couple to break up. It’s sad. But this is different. I’m in love with him and walking into work on Monday to hear this great news… Amazing!

2. 13 Simple Steps To Get You Through A Rough Day

If you haven’t seen this yet, it’s a must. I PROMISE you that you’ll laugh. You may even verge on peeing your pants. That may or may not have happened in my case.

3. An Open Letter to People Who Judge My Post-College Single Life

Whoever wrote this is borderline genius. If you’re in your twenties, single, and still acting like you’re in college, this is for you. If you’re sick of talking about people getting married, having babies, and just want to party like it’s 1999, this is for you. If once in a while, you wanna get hopped up and make some really bad decisions, this is for you. Enjoy – it’s a gem!

4. A Kick-Ass Charity Event for a Dear Friend

Last night, I had the pleasure of helping out at one of my closest friend’s charity events. Meryl, who I’ve known for more than 12 years, lost her father this year, after battling Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma for 2 years. Meryl has turned her energy into something so positive, and is currently running for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Woman of the Year campaign.

Meryl’s passion and energy really shined last night, bringing in more than 100 people to a Happy Hour event to raise money for her campaign. It’s so special to see such a huge group of people come together to raise money for a worthy cause. Makes you stop and think about what’s really important in life!

5. My Family

I love them extra this week. My Dad’s birthday is today and I’m so excited to spend the night with the “whole  family” tonight to celebrate. And we got great news about my Grandma’s clean bill of health today too…. A perfect birthday present for my Dad!

Anyone else have a shitty week? What got you through it? Hope some of this made you laugh! Come back tomorrow for a great Flashback Friday column.
