The Bachelorette Wedding – JP Rosenbaum and Ashley Hebert Say “I Do!”

Ever since ABC announced the wedding of JP Rosenbaum and Ashley Hebert, I’ve been anxiously awaiting the televised special. Who hasn’t? The few times I’ve met the couple, it’s been apparent that they’re very in love and that although rare, love can be found in a hopeless place… On television. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and in my opinion, there wasn’t much to critique or make fun of, which makes my blogging gig a lot harder. When ABC and People.com first released the photo of Ashley’s dress, I thought it was stunning, but the whole affair was too.

My one complaint… I wanted to see more of the party! A little less planning and a little more grooving on the dance floor would’ve been my preference, and I think many Bachelor and Bachelorette fans will agree with me. How did they cut out Craig Robinson likely busting a move on the dance floor? Or some face time with bridesmaid and bottle poppin’ extraordinaire, Ashley Spivey. Based on the fact that Ashley and JP went ice skating after their Bachelor and Bachelorette parties, I had a feeling that it was going to be a PG televised special. Anyone that can ice skate after their Bachelor/ette party, or let alone stand up straight, well… I won’t go there.

The wedding planning proved how nice it must be to be rich, or have ABC pay for your wedding. Wedding planner Mindy Weiss did a fantastic job, although likely was sucking helium and popping adderall behind the scenes. It was nice to know that Boo’s wedding attire cost more than anything in my closet, or better yet, my apartment as a whole.

Looking back at JP and Ashley’s journey on The Bachelorette had me longing for Sean’s season to begin in January. And watching them eat cupcakes and candy apples in random parks made me wonder… Do people really do this?

A highlight of the night: Ilene Rosenbaum. Honestly, where do I find a mother-in-law like this? I don’t think I’m alone on this one… Best mother-in-law ever. She stole the show.

Another highlight of the night was getting to see all of the past contestants show up for the affair. Molly was particularly impressive… One of the more beautiful pregnant ladies I’ve ever seen!

Jillian seemed particularly in love which was a treat to watch. And the Ali and Roberto canoodling was quite interesting… Hello, ABC, let’s see more of that!

Once the wedding started, I was borderline tears for the whole thing. JP looked absolutely adorable in his yamaka, glowing from ear to ear watching Ashley walk down the aisle, with both her father and stepfather, which I loved.

And Ashley, just stunning. I loved their song choice of “Fools Rush In,” and the incorporation of different cultural elements to the wedding ceremony.

And the best part, the much practiced and highly anticipated kiss!

As I said before, I wanted more inside scoop on the party, but from what we did see, it looked great.

Congrats to JP and Ashley!

  1. i think Ashley and JP may have wanted control on how much of their real life friends should be shown in TV because they did not want their friends to be the subject of scrutiny. They knew what they got themselves into by putting their wedding on TV, and their bachelor nation folks are more used to it. That was probably the reason behind very little footage of their parties.

If you read the comment section on the EW recap you may know what that means: they still call her all sorts of names. I respect them so much for deciding to show very little of their friends who are not bachelor nation people if that was the case.

  2. I hope this marriage lasts longer than the engagement. These two make an adorable couple, but we all know how these televised engagements/weddings, turn out.

I wonder how Miss Emily & others who grabbed the engagement ring so quickly, felt watching these two tie the knot? I also wonder if they attended on their own or were (forced) to come, because they were ex bachelorettes? Oh questions questions. ;-)
